First-time homebuyer Rajat found streamlined processes and ease of communication in working with Atmos to build his energy-efficient home.
When Rajat set out to find a house as a first-time homebuyer near Chapel Hill, there was one admirable priority at the forefront of his search: energy efficiency. Rajat sought out a home that would protect the environment and his wallet with lower energy use and efficient features. Unfortunately, even this singular quality proved difficult to find in an existing home. After a frustrating search, Rajat finally found a solution: building custom with Atmos. The Location
Instead of choosing a home that would meet his needs and settling for a location that may not resonate, Rajat chose his dream lot in West Chapel Hill. The lot is secluded, cozy, and tucked away, offering him the convenience of close proximity to Chapel Hill, without compromising privacy or peace and quiet.
The Design
From a vast menu of options, Rajat opted for a 3K square-foot, single-level home. “Being a single guy without a family yet, I wanted something that was appropriate for my current requirements,” Rajat says. The ranch style design made a perfect fit.
Starting with a floor plan and fully customizing each finish and amenity, Rajat worked closely with his Project Manager to create a home that speaks to his style and his personality. Each detail aims to make his daily life a bit more comfortable — like the heated floors in the bathroom that will make wintertime that much more bearable.
With solar panels and an excellent energy rating, Rajat’s new home is perfectly indulgent and cozy, without being overly burdensome to the environment. “I’m looking forward to saving a little bit on the energy side of things,” Rajat says.
The Process
While the idea of building a custom home appeals to many buyers, a great deal of them shy away because the process seems daunting. However, Rajat found that the Atmos process was streamlined and even quicker than expected. “Atmos makes home buying and home building easy. It’s really a turnkey operation that takes a lot of the stress out of the different stages of home buying and home building,” Rajat says.
Rajat discovered Atmos when he took interest in an in-progress home, then decided to build his own. “I chose Atmos because they had a good reputation in the industry and in the community,” Rajat says. He was presented with a variety of different floorplan options and then given the opportunity to customize from that plan. “Any customizations that I wanted to make to the plans were accepted by Atmos,” he reflects.
One of the highlights of working with Atmos, Rajat says, is collaborating with the professional and personable Project Managers. Their effective communication helped alleviate stress at every stage of the process. “I felt that I was very well updated along the way, so I was able to make effective and intelligent decisions.” Project Managers ensured that Rajat was never in the dark about the status of his project or the details of each of his options.
The ease of communication with Project Managers helped put Rajat at ease throughout the design and build. “There were many moments when I had questions, being a first-time homebuyer…but Atmos was very prompt in their communication, and very professional and effective in their ability to explain all the answers to any of my questions or concerns,” he says.
